There is something cleansing about tears especially when a man weeps over his sins. Tears are natural and therefore, good for us. That is why the LORD created us with tear-ducts. I know a lot of people (men and women alike), think that it’s not very manly to weep or cry. I used to think that too at one point, but not anymore. The Bible says, “There is “a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance” (Ecclesiastes 3:4). So, it’s perfectly right for men to cry. In fact, I would go so far as to say that most of us men should cry more often than we do – and that when we do cry, we do so for the right reasons.
Men do weep for all kinds of reason. Our hearts break sometimes because of emotional pain. Sometimes it is physical pain. At other times it’s financial pain. Pain is almost always a factor when a man weeps. When a man feels helpless, hurt or hedged-in with nowhere to turn, tears are often inevitable. But oh, what a blessed sight it is to see a man weep over because he has sinned against the LORD! When a man cries because he has sinned against the LORD and other people, that’s a beautiful sight! It’s precious before the LORD! When a man cries not just because he is remorseful but because he is repentant and is seeking to be restored to God and those whom he may have offended, that pleases the LORD! Continue reading
