I am writing a little book which I have entitled, Our Help is Not in TRUMP. In this little book, I underscore an obvious point for all Christians, namely that we are not to put our trust in powerful people. There is no help for us there. Psalm 146:3-4 reads, “Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation. When his breath departs, he returns to the earth; on that very day his plans perish.”
Instead, the Bible tells us that “Our help is in the Name of the LORD who made heaven and earth” (Psalm 124:8). I am so thankful to have been brought up in a church where I heard this verse proclaimed before the congregation at the beginning of every Sunday service. “Our help is in the Name of the LORD who made heaven and earth.” This timeless truth gave everyone in the congregation a clear vision of God and a biblical perspective on all the issues of life.
In this day and age especially in light of all the noise that is being made in/about America in relation to Trump, it’s important for us as Christians to remind ourselves that our help is not in TRUMP who wants to make America great again. No, “our help is in the Name of the LORD who made heaven and earth.” As I attempt to show in the book, this is particularly relevant to Christians in America. So, please stay tuned for updates on this little book. For now, please pray that the LORD will give me wisdom to articulate the message that we all need to hear and that in the end, His Name will be glorified. Thank you.
Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD, O my soul!
I will praise the LORD as long as I live;
I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.
Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation.
When his breath departs, he returns to the earth; on that very day his plans perish.
Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God,
Who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, Who keeps faith forever;
Who executes justice for the oppressed, Who gives food to the hungry.
The LORD sets the prisoners free; the LORD opens the eyes of the blind.
The LORD lifts up those who are bowed down; the LORD loves the righteous.
The LORD watches over the sojourners; He upholds the widow and the fatherless,
But the way of the wicked He brings to ruin.
The LORD will reign forever, your God, O Zion, to all generations.
Praise the LORD! (Psalm 146:1-10)
